Imagination Technologies completes VoLTE for 4G smartphones
Imagination Technologies, which has a R&D centre in Bristol, and next generation smartphone manufacturer Coolpad Americas revealed the completion of their latest project yesterday (October 31st).
The two companies have completed their IR-92 compliant VoLTE Interoperability Testing (IOT) of Coolpad's Quattro 4G series of smartphones.
These smartphones have the industry's highest performance 4G integrated Hellosoft VoLTE mobile device clients, which are licensed by Imagination Technologies.
Imagination's Heelosoft products provide comprehensive multiplatform mobile solutions.
They enable two-way real time communications, such as Voice over LTE, Voice Call Continuity, Video and Voice over IP, SMS over IP and Rich Communication Services.
Now, Coolpad Americas, which is an emerging smartphone brand in the US, has incorporated these products into its 4G models.
It hopes to introduce superior quality 4G voice capabilities on its smartphones through the microtechnology manufactured by Imagination.
Allan Johnson, general manager of Hellosoft at Imagination, said: "We have worked very closely with Coolpad to ensure the highest quality 4G Voice in the industry fully integrated with the Android native user interface on Coolpad's smartphones.
"Coolpad is an innovative company to work with and is bringing next generation voice and rich communications experience to customers."
He added that the partnership has enabled a wide range of voice and video applications with full standard compliance, robust performance and full interoperability, making Coolpad one of the leaders in mobile devices.
Demand for these smartphones and other 4G enabled devices may well grow in the UK following the introduction of this spectrum in several cities on October 30th.
Bristol is one of the ten cities in which 4G products and services were launched by the mobile network EE, formerly known as Everything Everywhere.
This means that consumers can now enjoy mobile broadband speeds five times faster than 3G.
It also suggests that microtechnology firms in the South West like Imagination will benefit because their products for 4G devices will be highly sought-after.
